▨Rules▧
Rules aren't meant to spoil anyone's fun. To be honest, rules are set in place in order to maximize everyone's fun. They are guidelines to both Out-of-Character (OOC) and In-Character (IC) behavior that are set in place to discourage behavior that can seriously spoil an otherwise good roleplay.
✧ The Number One Rule: BE PATIENT! ✧
✧ (AKA Realize that People Have Lives Outside of Roleplay) ✧
Inactivity sucks. Believe me, I've been running this forum on and off for over ten years now, so I know how frustrating and disappointing it can be when other players just disappear for a while. I used to get mad and even had a rule against inactivity once... until life taught me a valuable lesson. Sometimes, you just don't have the time to be as active as you would like.
Let's be real here--I'm in my late 20's, and I've not only got my final year of college coming up, but I also have other responsibilities as well. I have two cats and two mice to take care of. Both of my parents have health issues and I need to be able to be there for them. I have a fiance and a relationship with him to keep afloat. And don't even get me started on cleaning my room. The point is: we all have lives outside of roleplay, and we need to be understanding of this towards one another. Sometimes someone may have to go inactive for weeks or even months at a time--and you've got to be able to be OK with that here on this forum, or you're really not going to enjoy yourself at all.
Yes, this is the sad, unfortunate world of being an adult and also being a roleplayer. Don't join here if you can't handle inactivity gaps and slow progress. This roleplay is meant to be a continuous, ongoing narrative. Believe me, those of us who are dedicated (we've put 4 - 10 years in and still haven't given up yet!) are going to come back and pick things up again where we left off, no matter how long we've been away. You've got to have some faith in that and a lot of patience in order to roleplay here.
Don't heckle other players to make posts, either. Keep in mind the wisdom of "Hakuna Matata" and relax--even if things slow down for a while, they'll always pick back up again eventually. If you can handle this #1 Rule, you should have no problems fitting in We're all going to be laid-back and easy-going here from now on.
✧ OOC Rules ✧
◈ Trolling Is Not Tolerated.
Trolling is the act of posting overly offensive statements or material in any form that is meant to irritate, agitate, or harass other members. Trolling is seen as a hostile action, and anyone who trolls will receive only one warning before suspension or banishment.
◈ Sexual Harassment Is Not Tolerated.
Sexual harassment is the act of posting sexually explicit statements or material, or badgering another player in a sexual manner. Sexual harassment is a hostile act and will not be tolerated. One warning will be issued before suspension or banishment.
◈ No One Likes Imps.
Impersonating or "imping" another player or character is forbidden. This includes using another player's character(s) without his or her permission, or outright impersonating another player by either making a clone account or hacking into another player's account. A single warning may or may not be issued before suspension or banishment, depending on the cirumstances.
If you have been given permission by another player to use his/her account or play his/her characters, both parties must notify me via PM so that there will be no confusion. I will make a short announcement if such an occurrence happens.
◈ Keep cursing to a minimum.
I don't mind the occasional dirty word here and there, but keep in mind that this is a community that is open to members of all ages. Some people get offended by cursing, and a lot of people get offended by overly extensive cursing. If you get to the point to where there are curse words in every post you make, you will most likely be given a warning and a request to tone down on the cursing. Repeat offenders may receive suspension or, in rare cases where the extensive cursing crosses the border into trolling, even banishment.
◈ Keep OOC and Off-Topic posts in the OOC Section.
Posting OOC or Off-Topic posts right in the middle of a roleplay, or making an OOC thread in a roleplay-designated area is not only unsightly and irritating, but it ruins the flow of roleplay. There is an OOC/Off-Topic section set aside for posts that do not relate to the roleplay. Spam is not tolerated and will be deleted. Repeat offenses will result in warnings and possible suspension. If the act of posting spam or OOC posts anywhere other than the OOC/Off-Topic board escalates to the level of trolling, then banishment will become a definite possibility.
◈ Advertisements Belong in the Advertisements Board.
In the OOC/Off-Topic section, there is a sub-board for advertisements. This is the only place where advertisements of any kind is allowed. If advertisements are posted anywhere other than the Advertisements board, they will be deleted and the poster given a warning. As always, repeat offenses could mean suspension, and trolling could result in banishment.
Also, keep in mind that the content of what you are advertising should remain tasteful. In other words, no advertisements to sexually explicit or pornography sites, propaganda sites meant to incite incident, websites meant to scam people in any manner, or sites that link to viruses, adware, or spyware.
◈ One Character Thread Per Player Per Board.
There are four sub-boards in the Character Biography board for you to post your characters in; Canon Characters, Generation 1, Generation 2, and Generation 3. You may only post one thread in each section. If you have multiple characters, they should all be posted in one thread in the correct section. You may or may not divide up your characters in your thread by making a single post for each one. For further explanation of the different Generations and sections, please refer to Section 2.4 of the Roleplay Guide and Tips thread.

✧ IC Rules ✧
◈ No Godmoding.
Godmoding is further explained in Section 1.3 of the Roleplay Guide and Tips thread. Warnings will be issued, and if the behavior does not stop then suspension or banishment is a possibility.
◈ No Human Characters Allowed.
Humans have no place in the world of The Lion King, and thus have no place here in this roleplay. This is strictly animal roleplay. The use of human-made items is allowable but on a limited basis. Humans can show up on rare occasions as hazards or obstacles in roleplay. Hunters and poachers can show up to cause trouble on rare occasions. Violation of this rule will result in deletion of the offending post and a warning issued to the player. Repeat offenses can result in suspension, and troll-level offenses can result in banishment.
◈ African-Based Animals Only; Unless With Good Reason.
This roleplay is set within the world of The Lion King, and any fan should know that The Lion King takes place in Africa. You may play any African-based animal that you like, however if you want to play an animal that is not native to Africa then you need to explain in the character's biography how and why the character ended up in Africa. The story has to be believable enough to pass in a semi-realistic world. If not, then the character will not be allowed.
◈ Stick to a Realistic Timeline.
As you can tell, I have stringed some threads together with "Continued From/Continued On" links in order to make it easier to see which events have happened first, and in what order. This is because the timeline in this roleplay is important. Basically, don't start a thread that is supposed to take place between "Event 1" and "Event 2," for example. Don't mess with the timeline.
Also, keep in mind your character(s) can't be in two places at once. In other words, if "Character A" is currently in the Pridelands, you can't make a post with "Character A" in, say, The Waterhole until said character has left the Pridelands first.
